The Development Services Department has an opening for one Structural Engineer. The Structural Engineer reviews, evaluates, interprets, and approves comprehensive architectural and structural plans for all types of new development construction, alteration and repair work, high-rise buildings, and complex structures to ensure substantial compliance with life-safety and structural provisions of applicable city and state building codes and structural engineering standards by applying broad knowledge of structural engineering principles and judgement.

Has a specific end date in which their employment with the City will terminate
Ineligible for any form of layoff benefits and/or severance at termination.
*Note: The City of Bellevue does not participate in Social Security, which means employees do not contribute to or earn Social Security credit while employed with the City. Further, the Social Security Administration applies a formula containing an offset to take into account employment with a nonparticipating employer. The Social Security offsets are explained in the Municipal Employee Benefits Trust – City of Bellevue Retirement Benefit Plan Summary Plan Description. They are also described in the Social Security Administration Publications 05-10045 for the Windfall Elimination Provision and 0510007 for the Government pension Offset which can be found on the Social Security website ****. However, as a City of Bellevue employee, you may be eligible to participate in the Municipal Employee Benefit Trust (MEBT) plan; and depending on eligibility, there is also mandatory participation in the State Retirement Plan (PERS).
