CAD Drafter Designer with Solidworks Experience

RJ Watson Inc is a growing designer and manufacturer of structural bearing devices and other fabricated components for the bridge construction industry and we are looking for a CAD Drafter & Designer with Solidworks 3D modeling experience to join our team. The position would be a full time hourly position with overtime as-needed and would be 1st shift. The chosen candidate would work directly with our project engineers to model their designs and turn them into a set of shop drawings to be submitted. There are also opportunities for cross-training in other departments such as quality control, estimating, CNC machining and more. There is great opportunity for advancement in the company as many of our long term employees began as CAD drafters and we are looking for self-motivated individuals with this mindset.
The job responsibilities would be as follows.
Use SolidWorks to create, modify, and manage 3D models and 2D drawings
Convert concept designs into working 3D models and detailed part drawings
Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand the project requirements and implement them in the design
Review and optimize 3D models for manufacturability
Prepare and update project documentation, including design specifications and bill of materials
Ensure compliance with company standards and industry codes
Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback
Requirements
Technical degree in 3D Modeling and Drafting
Minimum 3 years of experience as a 3D Modeler/Drafter
Proficiency in SolidWorks is a must; additional experience with other CAD software is a plus
Strong understanding of drafting techniques, design principles, and mechanical concepts
Ability to interpret and work with complex technical drawings and specifications
Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
