GEO Technical Engineer Jobs description

The primary functions of a geotechnical engineer are geotechnical analysis, earthwork design, engineering geology, site investigation, geotechnical design report writing and project management, sampling and testing and soil mechanics as well as business development. A geotechnical engineer should ensure that the project is executed as per environmental and safety norms and in compliance with the schedule, budget, contract specification, industry standards and the company’s Operation Integrity Management System. He/she provides technical assistance throughout the development of the project i.e. from conceptualization to final design and execution. A geotechnical engineer should be thorough with soil mechanics, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, earth structures, earth pressures, instrumentation and coastal soils. The other responsibilities involved in this work is assisting in contractor selection, developing and maintaining client relationship, making calculations using engineering formulas and skills, attending project meetings and collecting of project data from regulatory agencies.

A geotechnical engineer should possess a bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university. A geotechnical engineer should possess strong project management skills and be experienced in technical input and preparing Excel and PowerPoint spreadsheets.
